You're not alone, the right support can make all the difference.
I have dedicated my career to the treatment and study of trauma. I believe that trauma is at the core of many of our struggles as human beings. It can present itself in our lives in both obvious and very subtle ways that impact our relationships, our work, our ability to experience joy, and our search for purpose and meaning. I take a holistic and humanistic approach to providing effective evidence-based therapies to address these impacts. I incorporate an authentic mindfulness practice, and apply mind-body research, to help my clients find their unique path to a more balanced life.
Areas of treatment focus include: posttraumatic stress, life transitions and aging, depression and mood disorders, anxiety, self-esteem and self-compassion,
relationships & social anxiety. I work with individuals from young adulthood to later life and will refer out for couple’s therapy.
In our first meeting: we’ll develop goals for treatment and design a plan matched uniquely to you. Having deep roots in the humanistic approach, I enter the therapeutic relationship with unconditional positive regard (via Carl Rogers’ work) and provide a safe, non-judgmental space for you to progress toward wellness, as defined by you.
My credentials: I have been practicing psychotherapy for over 14 years. I received my Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Chicago, with a focus on clinical social work and the psychodynamic perspective. I have additional post-graduate training and experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Pain, Seeking Safety, and Motivational Interviewing. I was trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) via the EMDR Institute, Inc. I'm also trained and experienced in many evidence-based modalities for trauma including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE)and am currently exploring additional training in somatic therapies.
